Louisiana's Master Gardener Program is getting ready for the Annual Fall Bulb Sale. It will take place Saturday, October 22nd from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the West Monroe Farmer's Market.
The Master Gardener Program is a volunteer service in almost all sixty-four parishes throughout Louisiana. Different garden demonstrations, butterfly gardens, and helpful gardening tips are some of the things that Master Gardeners provide.
Locally, the Master Gardener Program can be seen through gardens at the Louisiana Purchase Zoo, the Chennault Aviation Museum, and local schools such as J.S. Clark Magnet School, Lake Shore Elementary, and Jack Hayes Elementary.
The bulb sale will include bulbs, perennials, and shrubbery, and it will have a variety of heirloom or antique bulbs. Kerry Heafner, northeast coordinator with the LSU AG extension agent, says that,"you'll have a better shot at getting the full bloom" getting your bulbs at the bulb sale as compared to big name department sellers.
