'Ouachita Runs Dry' Public Forum Tuesday, April 11

Commercial barge traffic is the determining factor for funding the Ouachita - Black River System.

90.3 KEDM Public Radio hosts Policy and a Pint: Ouachita Runs Dry-The Decline of a River System on Tuesday April 11 at 6 p.m. Topics to be discussed include river health, drinking water, economic impact, agricultural impact, industry and recreational use of the Ouachita River.

The public forum will be held April 11 at SQ’s on the Ouachita, 209 Walnut Street in Monroe. KEDM will host a meet and greet with the panelists at 5:30 p.m., with the discussion running from 6-7 p.m.

The panelists are:

  • Sue Nicholson - Monroe Chamber of Commerce
  • Randy Denmon - Ouachita River Valley Association
  • Tracy Hilburn - Tensas Basin Levee District

The discussion will be moderated by KEDM News Director Cory Crowe.

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer.
