Saturday May 20th, the Ouachita Parish Public Libraries are kicking off their summer reading challenge at Summerfest. Summerfest will take place at the Main Branch library on 18th Street from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This year's summer reading challenge's theme is 'Build a Better World', and all the books the library has chosen to promote for the challenge reflect this theme. Each age group, kids, teens, and adults, have six suggested books to read that fit into the 'Build a Better World' theme. If the reader reads two of those books, along with meeting the other reading challenges, they will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize. This year's prize for adults is a Samsung tablet, and for kids the LaunchPad tablet.
Summerfest is the library's way to kick off the summer and promote the reading challenge. Sciport will be there for kids and teens and a big inflatable slide along with snow cones from Eskimoes.
