Community Keeps it Clean with Ouachita Water Sweep

When water levels lower, trash can often be left behind on banks.

Saturday, September 9th Ouachita Green is bring the community together with one purpose: to clean. This year's Ouachita Water Sweep will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. across Ouachita Parish.

This year's staging site for the event will be held at Lazarre Park, Forsythe Park, Moon Lake Recreation Center, Bawcomville Recreation Center, Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Darbonne National Wildlife Refuge, Bayou Desiard at the University of Louisiana Monroe, and the Sterlington Recreation Center. With eight opportunities to serve, individuals and groups are encourages to come out and help keep the parish clean and the wildlife safe. Last year the Water Sweep removed four tons of trash from local bodies of water. 

Volunteers can sign up by visiting here. Hamburger and hot dog lunch will be provided by the Louisiana National Guard at Lazarre Park and Forsythe Park.
