Forsythe Fire Station closed due to mold.

Monroe City Fire Chief Terry Williams announces the temporary closure of the Forsythe Fire Station (#6), effective immediately, due to a recent report of mold in the station. The mediation process should be completed by October 23rd, at which time we expect the station to re-open and be fully operational.

The response zone normally covered by the Forsythe Station will be covered by Olive Street, Barbados, and Breard Fire Stations until the work is complete at the Forsythe Station which may take approximately 7-10 days. Residents living near the Forsythe Station may see a slight increase in response times during this period; however, this increase in time should be minimal.

Chief Williams states, “While the report does not indicate levels to the extent of requiring evacuation, I feel it is best to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety and health of the members of the Monroe Fire Department.”
