Quota International is hosting a Chicken and Waffles fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 27 from 8-10 a.m. at Slim Chickens on Cypress St. in West Monroe.
"Quota Club International was originally started by the wives of Kiwanis members who wanted to better for their community," according to Jennifer Bass of Quota Club West Monroe. "They saw their husbands doing things to make their communities better places to live, and they wanted to participate." Quota Club International was formed in 1919. "Back then, there wasn't a place for women in clubs like Kiwanis."
Quota International recycles the funds raised from fundraisers like the Chicken and Waffles fundraiser back into the community. "Quota International has an international focus on people with hearing disabilities and women and children who are impoverished and may need a little extra help," says Bass. "We've done some really cool things with money we've raised over the years."
Tickets for the Chicken and Waffles Fundraiser are available at 318-372-9698. The fundraiser is serving up both chicken and waffle or waffle only dishes. More information about Quota International is available here.
