Kiwanians flipping pancakes for the 63rd Annual Pancake Day.

The 63rd Annual Kiwanis Pancake Day is November 6 from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Kiwanians sell pancake tickets to raise money for their organization to help children and the community.

According to Ann Bloxom Smith of Kiwanis, Pancake Day receives a lot of community support. "This particular event is our fundraiser for local children's charities, so we give all the money raised away," says Smith. Funds raised from the event go directly to a long list of organizations benefitting children, including MedCamps, Camp Quality, and school sponsorships.

While the total number of pancakes sold each year is a mystery, Jonathon Booth estimates based off of ticket sales that around 4,400 pancakes have been purchased in advance. "There's nothing like being a part of an organization that helps the main group of folks here in the community that can't help themselves, and that's kids," says Booth.

News Director Cory Crowe from 90.3 KEDM Public Radio is broadcasting Morning Edition live on location at the event. More information about Kiwanis of Greater Ouachita is available online or on Facebook.
