The 98th Annual Monroe Chamber of Commerce Meeting and Banquet is scheduled for Wednesday, January 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Monroe Civic Center. John G. Rocovich, Jr., JD, LLM, founder of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) and Chairman of the Board of Directors will serve as the keynote speaker.
Rocovich is a native of Blacksburg, Virginia, and alumnus of Virginia Tech. He has played an instrumental role in the advancement of osteopathic medicine throughout the Appalachian region.
In the early years of his law practice, he focused many of his efforts on clients in the coal industry of southwest Virginia. The time he spent in the coal fields of Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia gave him a deep understanding of the needs of the people of the southern Appalachian region, especially their need for physicians and health care in general.
