The Downtown Monroe alliance will begin offering $250 mini-grants to help promote the Downtown District. The goal of this grant is to encourage new festivals and events in Downtown Monroe.

Myra-Gatling Akers, Director of the Downtown Economic Development District, stated, "DoMo currently hosts over 145 events per year. These events bring many visitors from Arkansas, other parts of LA, Texas, and Mississippi to our own city."

To quilify for the grant, the event must be held in the Downtown Monroe District and the organizer is limited to one DMA mini-grant every 6 months.

DMA grants are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications will be judged on several criteria including the potential impact of the event, marketing of the event and how well it coincides with the mission of the DMA. For more information and to apply for the DMA Programming Grant, go online at www.downtownmonroe.org.
