Kick start your summer by attending the Ouachita Parish Public Library's annual SummerFest on Saturday, May 18th.
Themed "Universe of Stories" the Ouachita Parish Public Library is using treats, activities, a challenge, and even prizes to motivate participation in their Summer Reading Challenge. Festivities for SummerFest are being held at the Main Branch Library from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with live music, food trucks, and plenty of activities for space cadets of all ages.
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages participants to read two of six out-of-this-world books, chosen by the library, during the summer. Register for the Summer Reading Challenge at SummerFest and after reading the titles chosen, vote for them at http://www.oplib.org/summer_reading_challenge/index.php to mark your place for the prize drawing. Prizes include a bike for a child or a tablet for adults and teenagers. Participants can also win smaller prizes by partaking in hands-on STEAM challenges.
