The City of West Monroe is offering their free Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series again this fall for Twin Cities-residents. The concerts take place every Wednesday of September and the first Wednesday of October from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. at North 7th Street’s, Farmer’s Market Pavilion, near the West Monroe High School water tower. The entertainment will feature local talents that showcase the thriving music community of Northeast Louisiana.
West Monroe began this concert series a few years ago, and since then, it has been a relaxing, enjoyable experience for local residents looking for an exciting lunch break or family outing. The idea is to bring your own lunch to the event, and the city will provide the entertainment; however, this year, a new partnership has changed that.

While you can still bring your own lunch, Kris Kelly, events planner for the West Monroe Chamber of Commerce says that the restaurant Newks has collaborated with the city to provide “a limited supply of brown bag lunches” that will cost $5 along with a variety of drink options.

This year’s concert series contains a good mix of styles and genres from week to week that offers a diverse selection for listeners of all tastes. This includes everything from country to jazz, and even West Monroe High School’s Rebel Choir, which will be singing pieces from their concert repertoire for lucky concert-goers.

The final October performance, Beat Root Revival, will actually be connected to West Monroe’s popular Celtic Festival and incorporate Celtic folksongs to keep the experience going. The full schedule of the concert series can be found below:

September 4: JES (“Jennifer, Emily, and Sharon”)

September 11: Southern Grace

September 18: WM Rebel Choir

September 25: Bad Monkey Brass Band

October 4: Beat Root Revival
