Giving Tuesday is a national day that was started in 2012 where people are asked to donate money, goods, or time to organizations across the country. This year, Giving Tuesday will be on Dec. 3rd following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. The ULM Foundation is a local organization that is taking the opportunity to get the community involved by allowing them to donate to the university.
This Tuesday, there will a link set up on the university's homepage and social media accounts that will allow people to donate to four different areas of the ULM Foundation: financial aid emergency fund, general scholarship fund, KEDM Public Radio, and university priorities.
According to Janet Jackson, the coordiator of Advancement Operations at the ULM Foundation, "these funds will be used for everything from helping a student who has an emergency that could hinder them from getting back to school to scholarship aid not provided by the state."
Another opportunity to donate to the ULM Foundation on Giving Tuesday is on Amazon. The shopping-website has promised to take 5% of each customer's purchase and donate it to their preferred organization with no extra fee. Shoppers must simply log-in to their account on Amazon Smiles and select the ULM Foundation before buying items.
