Considering the potential for emergency conditions due to Hurricane Laura, Mayor Friday Ellis is announcing the closure of all City facilities to the public and non-essential employees on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
“We are mindful of the need for the safety of citizens and our employees, and we believe closing our offices for one day is in everyone’s best interest,” Ellis said.
Essential city workers will report as needed to maintain critical services such as water and fire and police protection. Monroe residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions and stay informed about rapidly changing weather conditions.
