The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office will host two classes in February 2021 for interested parents to increase their awareness of the potential dangers children can be exposed to on the Internet.

There will be two classes offered from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on February 16 and 18 at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Training Academy at the Ouachita Parish Rifle Range in West Monroe. The registration deadline is February 10.

Topics will include website identification, mobile apps, current trends and other Internet based activity that put children in danger of being victimized. Also included will be discussion of cases that illustrate how children are victimized, information concerning the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and laws governing children’s activity while online.

Instructors will be law enforcement personnel specially trained in investigating internet crimes against children from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, the Louisiana State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
