Ribbon Cutting for Sunken Gardens at Kiroli Park to be held on Monday, April 14

WEST MONROE – The City of West Monroe will host a ribbon cutting for the newly-renovated Sunken Gardens at Kiroli Park on Monday, April 14 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

The Sunken Gardens at Kiroli Park are located just past the park’s main office. The area was originally used as a swimming pool when the site was used as a Boy Scout Camp.

Grant funding from AARP and private funds raised through the Kiroli Foundation were used to revitalize the site by turning it into a serene garden area with a water stream that flows throughout the garden area. Native Louisiana plants have been planted throughout the garden area thanks to the volunteer efforts of the Northeast Louisiana Master Gardeners.

The Sunken Gardens is a quiet, serene place to walk through or to sit and relax. The area can also be rented for private events such as photography sessions, small weddings or other events.

In addition to the Sunken Gardens, two other sites at Kiroli Park have recently been upgraded. Both Camellia Cottage and the Garden Room are two sites that can be rented for a special event or occasion and are within walking distance of the Sunken Gardens.

For more information on these locations or for information on how to rent them, please call Kiroli Park at (318) 396-4016 or email parks@westmonroe.la.gov
