Give the Joy of Learning with KEDM

MJ reading at KEDM Studios

Help children gain a brighter future and give the joy of learning!

Your tax-deductible year-end gift to KEDM will give the gift of reading to over 1,700 local school children.

Nearly 71% of fourth graders in Louisiana are NOT reading at grade level, according to The Nation's Report Card, NEAP-2015 Mathematics & Reading Assessments.  That's an alarming statistic!

With your help last year, we gave every second grader in 12 schools a book to take home for the holidays. This year, KEDM is striving to expand and give books to every first AND second grader in 13 schools that participate in the United Way of Northeast Louisiana's Read. Learn. Succeed. program. A complete list of schools is below.

Children who are exposing to reading for 30 minutes a day succeed in school. Building children's home libraries is key. That is why, each $20 donation places one book in the hands of a child. A $100 gift sends five children home for the holidays with a book. Make a difference today with your gift!

KEDM is excited to announce a partnership with Lexington Elementary School students who will collect new and "like new" books for delivery.

Tune in to KEDM December 5-8 to hear holiday selections from young readers.

It takes a pencil to write a story, a book to open a mind, and a small donation to make a difference. Help KEDM broaden the future of local children.

KEDM staff and volunteers will deliver books to the following schools the week of December 11:

  • Monroe City Schools: Berg Jones, Carver, Clara Hall, Jefferson, Madison James Foster, Minnie Ruffin
  • Ouachita Parish Schools: Lenwil, Robinson, Shady Grove, Swayze
  • Lincoln Parish: Hillcrest, Lincoln Preparatory School
  • Union Parish Schools: Union Elementary

A special thanks to these fine sponsors: Fiesta Nutrition Center, Russell and Cynthia Woodard and Friends of KEDM.
