Bayou Jamb returns on August 22 with a week full of activities.
Fan Jamb Week will begin on August 22 and last through the 27. Fans will enjoy signature events such as Fan Jamb Pregame Live, Grill and Chill Tailgate, Media Day, First Down 5K, and Taste of the Tailgate Cook-Off. A week’s worth of Bayou Jamb events packed throughout the community of Ruston to give everyone the Bayou Jamb experience leading up to the Big Games on August 26 and 27th. The Bayou Jamb 2022 Media Day will be Monday, August 22nd, at Ruston Civic Center, beginning at 10 a.m. Coaches from the fourteen participating teams will address the media, and each school will bring two of its top players. Special guests in attendance include Mayor Ronny Walker, Bayou Jamb Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees, representatives from Louisiana Tech Athletics, Louisiana Tech Cheerleaders, Regal Blues, and Tech’s #1 Bulldog, “CHAMP”. The 2022 Bayou Jamb Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees are Coach Micah Harper, Coach Tommy Reeder and Coach Scott Stone (posthumously). Bayou Jamb Media Day 2022 is sponsored by Ouachita Valley Federal Credit Union.
Pack the Dac is available for fans to watch all the football games in comfort with Club Level access. This package includes covered outdoor seating or an indoor air-conditioned area with unlimited food and drinks and the first football of the season.
Taste of the Tailgate Cook-Off will be held at the Ruston Civic Center on Wednesday, August 24th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local restaurants and chefs will battle it out for the championship title. Part of the ticket proceeds will go back to participating Bayou Jamb schools. General Admission is $10 or VIT Wristband (Very Important Tailgater) $25.
The First Down 5K will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 26th. The run will go through the private grounds of the Ruston Sports Complex located in Ruston, Louisiana. Participants registering before August 12 will receive a 5K t-shirt and commemorative bib. Plenty of food and drinks will be available post-race. Kids 10 and under can sign up for the Gridiron Gang Dr. Pepper Dash.
Players from participating Bayou Jamb schools will tour Ruston Elementary School on Tuesday, August 23, connecting with students about the importance of maintaining healthy relationships in the game, in the classroom, and in everyday lives. Each student will receive a coupon for one (1) What-A-Burger Kids Meal.
Tailgating will take place Friday, August 26, and Saturday, August 27, at Joe Aillet Stadium. In addition to the great football action, Brookshire’s Grillin’ and Chillin’ Tailgate starts at 3 p.m. on Friday with tailgating, music, and an activity-filled Kid’s Zone. Football fans can set up their RVs, tents, and grills and stay for the weekend to watch all of the football action. Families are encouraged to come out to see the oversized gas-powered “Brookshire’s Buggy” along with other fun activities.
Bayou Jamb Business Connect is a networking event for business professionals held at the Ruston Civic Center Tuesday, August 23rd from 5 to 7 p.m. This two-hour event is open to all business professionals. Help welcome Bayou Jamb and its committee members to meet other professionals, share ideas and resources while learning more about the local businesses, make new connections, and connect with existing clients.
Salute to Service is a year-round effort to Honor, Empower, and Connect our nation's service members, veterans, and their families through sports. To encourage military appreciation, Bayou Jamb will host a tribute to service men and women in the area and participating school's ROTC students on Thursday, August 25, at the North Louisiana Military Museum. This event is free to the public.
Get ready for downtown Ruston at Railroad Park to transform into Bayou Jamb Campus. Fans can expect a fan-friendly, walkable footprint featuring live music, food trucks, themed restaurant promotions, and fun activities starting Friday, August 26, through Saturday, August 27. Bayou Jamb will pay tribute to the area's school teachers in this year’s “Teacher’s Rock Lip Sink Contest'.
Friday night will feature 2 football games. The first game will be played at 5:30 p.m. between St. Frederick and Mangham. The second game will begin at 7 p.m. and will be played by Ouachita and Oak Grove.
Saturday will be filled with football games. The first game will begin at 11 a.m. Red River and Lincoln prep will battle each other during this game. The second game will be played between Jonesboro Hodge and Franklin Parish. this game will begin at 1 p.m. The third game starts at 3 p.m. and OCS will play Jena. The fourth game will begin at 5 p.m. with Evangel playing Cedar Creek. The fifth and final game of the week will be between West Monroe and Ruston. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
