Jury finds Morehead guilty of Second-Degree Murder

The trial in the case of State of Louisiana v. Chadarius Marquez Morehead began Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in the Ouachita Parish Courthouse. The Defendant was charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder for the homicide of Kentarius Webb. The State presented the testimony of multiple witnesses, including the investigating officers and Ouachita Parish Coroner. After all evidence was heard by the court, the jury deliberated for less than one hour before rendering a unanimous verdict of guilty as charged of Second-Degree Murder. The Defendant will be sentenced on August 15, 2023. The charge of Second-Degree Murder carries a life sentence at hard labor in Louisiana.

First Assistant District Attorney Holly Chambers Jones and Assistant District Attorney Kalee Moore prosecuted the case on behalf of the State. The Defendant was represented by Attorney Keith Whiddon. Judge Scott Leehy presided over the case.
