WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) hosted Madison DiCarlo, a recent May graduate of West Monroe High School in Washington, D.C., in recognition of her winning submission in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition representing Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District. Her art piece is displayed in the Halls of Congress alongside other congressional winners from across the country.
“Madison’s art piece “Summer Strawberries” reminds me of the time with my sister and brother growing up in Monroe. Madison’s piece creatively captures the beauty of Louisiana’s vast agricultural landscape of fertile fields and bountiful harvest of the Fifth District’s specialty crop of strawberries. I am thrilled to see Madison’s piece hung in the Halls of Congress for thousands of visitors to admire this creative showcase of our incredible agricultural heritage and resources.” said Congresswoman Letlow.
The winner's artwork showcases the children of Madison’s art teacher spending a day picking strawberries at a strawberry farm nearby Monroe.
