Food Bank asks community to take action against hunger

The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is calling on community members to join the fight against hunger this September for Hunger Action Month. With over 53,900 people in the region facing food insecurity, including 19,800 children, the need for food assistance is high.

Hunger Action Month is a campaign organized by Feeding America, dedicated to driving awareness and inspiring action to help fight hunger in communities across the country. Food insecurity has been linked to poorer health outcomes, impacts child development, and contributes to mental health issues.

“Many of our neighbors live on a limited income and struggle to get the food they need,” said Jean Toth, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. “We’re asking for community support to help to meet this most basic need of food for local children, seniors and families.”
