Twin City Jamboree

The Twin City Jamboree is being honored with marker number 14 on the NELA Music Trail on November 17, 2023 at 4:30p.m. at the West Monroe Convention Center, 901 Ridge Avenue. Jamboree artists will also be performing a show at 6p.m. at the West Ouachita Senior Center, 1800 North 7th Street.

In addition, the City of West Monroe has proclaimed Friday, November 17 as "Twin City Jamboree Day" for the TCJ's contributions to the area's musical legacy. The TCJ was also recognized by the NELA Music Awards with a Legacy Award on November 9, 2023 at its annual award show. The Jamboree's influence has boosted the music scene for both local performers and audiences.

Beginning as the Ouachita Valley Jamboree at the Officer's Club at Selman Field, the event was moved to the site of what is now the West Monroe Convention Center due to the crowds until it closed its doors in 1952. It was soon revived and renamed the Twin City Jamboree under a new rotating staff band of local performers Jack Hollingsworth, Loy Wallace, Alex L. Myatt, Fulton Mobley, and Sam Davis. Many legends in the music industry got their start at the Jamboree and many, including Billy Camp and Alice Prophit still perform locally.
