ULM Humanities offers new foreign language courses for medical professionals and tourism workers

The humanities are connected through their study of the human environment, its diverse heritage, traditions, and history.  Dr. Ruth Smith, Director of the University of Louisiana Monroe School of Humanities, says that Spanish and French speakers are needed in the medical field and in tourism. ULM is now offering new classes in foreign languages to help these growing fields. Dr. Smith explains the new class offerings and the significance of Spanish Heritage Month.

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer. He was also creative director for a television advertising department and worked extensively as a photojournalist. Cory has lived in both Dallas and New Orleans.
