Hitman convicted in Lake Providence courtroom

A hitman has been convicted on September 13 in East Carroll Parish. Amin Virani, a hired hitman was charged with attempted second-degree murder. Virani was hired by co-defendant Rachel Meadows in 2015 to kill her ex-husband in Lake Providence. The victim survived multiple gunshot wounds. Meadows pleaded guilty in November 2021 and received a 15-year sentence. Virani was convicted by a unanimous jury in under 30 minutes and will be sentenced later.

Louisiana's Attorney General Liz Murrill thanked the State Police and East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office for their efforts in achieving this conviction.
