The October Downtown Gallery Crawl in Monroe and West Monroe, LA is set to bring art enthusiasts and fun seekers together on Thursday, October 3. Presented by the Northeast Realtors of Louisiana, this event is part of the ongoing efforts by the non-profit Downtown Arts Alliance to promote and enhance the art culture of the 318 area. It also serves as a platform for local artists to showcase their work and connect with the community while contributing to the revitalization of downtown Monroe and West Monroe.
The Downtown Gallery Crawl aims to provide interactive art education and make the works of emerging and established local, regional, and national artists accessible to the North Louisiana community. The event is an opportunity for art lovers to engage with a wide range of artistic expressions and for artists to gain exposure and support.
Several galleries will feature a diverse array of shows and artists during this crawl. From Kit Gilbert Retrospective at the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council to live music by Trey Geauthreaux at Max Porter Provisions, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Other highlights include exhibitions by artists such as Terrence Williams II, Haley Monk, Sara Beth Howard, and many more. Additionally, there will be live music, artisanal hot sauce makers, and a Farmers and Makers Market at Revival Design & Cosign.
To add an element of excitement, a fun scavenger hunt will be part of the crawl, with details on how to participate shared on social media leading up to the event. Wagon rides will be available to transport crawlers between galleries, and food trucks and live music will further enliven the atmosphere in both downtown areas.
The Downtown Gallery Crawl is a free and open event that takes place every other month, six times a year, from 5pm-9pm on the first Thursday of each month starting in February. The remaining date for the 2024 season is December 5. Participating galleries provide a welcoming environment for the community to engage with, appreciate, and acquire fine art.
This event is made possible through the support of local sponsors including the Northeast Realtors of Louisiana, Origin Bank, North Delta Title, Yarbrough Capital Advisors, and the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council. In-kind sponsors such as Sir Speedy Printing, KEDM Public Radio, and Flying Tiger Brewery also contribute to the success of the Downtown Gallery Crawl.
