United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announces resignation from office

U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown has announced his resignation, effective January 20, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Brown, nominated by President Biden in November 2021 and confirmed the following month, has served as the chief law enforcement officer for the Western District of Louisiana.

During his tenure, Brown oversaw a team of approximately 90 personnel, focusing on combating violent crime, child exploitation, drug trafficking, and public corruption.
Brown’s office prosecuted high-profile cases involving civil rights violations, child exploitation, drug trafficking, fraud, and violent crime.

Alexander C. Van Hook will serve as Acting U.S. Attorney following Brown’s departure. A native of Richwood, Louisiana, Brown holds degrees from Louisiana Tech University and Southern University Law Center. His leadership leaves a lasting impact on the district and beyond.
