Jay Davis selected as lead artist for Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo Mural

Jay Davis, a local artist who returned to Monroe after a successful illustration career with Pixar, will bring his expertise and community passion to the nearly 5,000-square-foot mural at the zoo entrance. The mural features the zoo’s rebranded logo and will enhance the area’s visual appeal while promoting pedestrian safety and engagement, aligning with the City of Monroe’s commitment to creating safer, more vibrant streetscapes.

The mural is one of two large-scale public art installations funded through this program, with the second planned for Art Alley in Downtown Monroe. Together, these projects aim to celebrate the city’s cultural identity and enhance pedestrian spaces.

Installation is set to be complete late spring. The City of Monroe expresses its gratitude to all artists who submitted their proposals and to the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council for their partnership in this endeavor.
