The 42nd Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras parade is returning to Monroe-West Monroe on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and starts at 1118 Natchitoches Street in West Monroe and ends at Oliver Road in Monroe. Earlier that Saturday morning, the Pet Parade on Antique Alley in downtown West Monroe will take place after the Children's Parade at the Pecanland Mall. The parade will cover 3.8 miles in length.
The Krewe of Janus parade was established in 1984. It was organized by the Twin Cities' Jaycees and became an independent organization in 1989. The parade also includes at least 50 units and several High School bands.
This parade has been awarded one of the Top 20 Tourism Events and Top 10 Attraction by the Southern Tourism Association.
The Grand Marshall of this event is Phillip Mark Thomas. Phillip is the president for Pilots for Patients. Pilots for Patients is a non-profit that provides free air transportation for those who are in need of a diagnosis and treatment at medical centers not available to them locally. Phillip is the founder and president of Precision Paper & Board. Phillip was also voted the Delta Style Magazine’s Healthcare Hero Volunteer in 2014 and was awarded the Keys to the City of Monroe, LA by Mayor Friday Ellis in 2023.
