Freezing temperatures arise in Monroe-West Monroe area

A winter weather advisory has been issued about freezing temperatures approaching the Northeast Louisiana area. As for the rest of the week there will be dry cold air and freezing slight rain with winds blowing at least 15 mph.

Wind gusts will be high as 25 mph. This weather is dangerous, and everyone should prepare accordingly to the temperatures. Here is a couple of things you can wear and do accordingly to the weather:

  • Essential accessories such as gloves and hats
  • Wear a moisture-wicking base layer
  • Take vitamins and supplements to avoid getting sick
  • Keep heated and insulated clothing on children

This unexpected cold front will last up through the weekend so please prepare accordingly to the weather.

Also, the City of Monroe has opened Liller Maddox Marbles Recreational Center as a warming station. The station will be opened until February 21st, at 8 A.M. This is located at 2950 Renwick Street.
