(Ouachita Parish) – On January 27, 2025, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Patrol Division began an investigation into a series of vehicle burglaries reported in the North Monroe area. Surveillance footage captured three unidentified suspects, wearing head and face coverings, attempting to gain entry to vehicles, resulting in the theft of multiple firearms. On February 3, 2025, OPSO deputies discovered a stolen vehicle located near Presidential Estates. Fingerprints belonging to Richard Oby Jr., 23-year-old black, male were removed from the vehicle.
OPSO Investigations was able to identify a witness who advised Oby was observed operating the stolen vehicle. A search warrant was executed at Oby’s residence, where deputies recovered numerous firearms and additional items that established a connection to the reported offenses.
As a result, Richard Oby, Jr. has been arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Six Counts of Simple Burglary
- Two Counts of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things
- One Count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
- One Count of Attempted Burglary
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
