State Police said nearly two million dollars’ worth of drugs are off the streets of Central Louisiana as the result of the arrest of an Alexandria man. Trooper Scott Moreau said earlier this month detectives began investigating 37-year-old Derrick Felton for distribution of methamphetamine and he was later taken into custody during a traffic stop.
Moreau “found a large amount of narcotics on him and a large sum of cash, and later that day searched several residents and found more drugs and more cash.”
Moreau said the street value of the drugs seized is approximately $1.7 million dollars.
Moreau said they also seized over $100,000 worth of cocaine and $67,000 dollars in cash. Felton was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He said the drugs were not only found in his vehicle, but also at multiple residences in Alexandria, so more arrests are likely.
“The investigation is still open and ongoing. This is just the beginning,” said Moreau.
