The state fire marshal's office is investigating a fire that left a man and his granddaughter dead and two other family members injured.
Investigators responded about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a fire in Denham Springs. Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke billowing from a window. Firefighters entered the house and found the bodies of 57-year-old Jesse Lowrance and his 6-year-old granddaughter, Kenley Lowrance. Their bodies were sent to the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office for autopsies.
The surviving residents, 53-year-old Deborah Lowrance and her 13-year-old granddaughter, were transported to Baton Rouge General's burn center for treatment. The teenager was later transported to University Health in Shreveport.
While no official cause of the fire has been determined, investigators say the blaze originated in the home's living room.
