Police Car Crash

Four New Orleans police officers have been fired and two suspended for an unauthorized chase just before a deadly car crash and fire at a beauty salon.

Police Chief Shaun Ferguson announced the moves Wednesday at a news conference.

The department's Public Integrity Bureau opened an investigation into possible violations of the department's chase protocol leading up to the March 20 crash. According to police, officers were chasing two teenagers after they allegedly fled a traffic stop. The driver lost control, crashing into the Unity-1 Salon, sending the building into flames.

Both teens were killed, as was a woman who was getting her hair done inside the salon.

Fired were Alex Mikkelsen, Jonathan Broom, Jeffrey Herrington and Alex Florian while Officers Colby Stewart and William Hery have been suspended.
