A Louisiana mayor has been disqualified from running for reelection. Tuesday's court ruling disqualifying Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins from this year's election can be appealed to the state 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal. KTBS TV reports that the appeal court has upheld a similar disqualification in a past case. Tuesday's ruling came in a lawsuit that said Perkins did not use the address where he claims a homestead tax exemption when he signed up to run for re-election. In a Monday hearing, Perkins said he may have missed reading guidelines about that requirement because he was in a rush and distracted by news cameras when he signed up.
