Area rural hospitals reap USDA investment

START, LA - Congresswoman Julia Letlow (LA-05) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will invest more than $2.4 million in improving healthcare across Louisiana’s Fifth District. The funding is targeted to rural communities and will be dispersed through the USDA’s Rural Development Community Facilities Emergency Rural Health Care program.

“As we’ve seen over the past two years, healthcare is a critical need in our rural communities,” Letlow said. “We’re incredibly proud of these substantial grants awarded in our region and look forward to continue working on the Appropriations Committee to bring home even more investments in the future.”

The projects include –

• $1 million for Richardson Medical Center in Rayville
• $1 million for Mercy Medical Health Center in Hodge
• $307,814 for the East Carroll Parish Hospital in Lake Providence
• $162,650 for LaSalle General Hospital in Jena
