The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is inviting community members to help local families struggling with hunger by participating in the 36th Annual Boy Scouts of America Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, November 11.
Local Boy Scout troops will drop off empty bags at the doorsteps of homes across the community on Saturday, November 4. Residents can fill the bags with non-perishable food items and place them outside their front door by 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, and the Scouts will pick them up.
Residents who do not receive a Boy Scout bag are encouraged to bring food donations to either of the following locations on Saturday, November 11th between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana – 4600 Central Ave, Monroe
- Christ Church - 208 Lincoln St, West Monroe
Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana Executive Director Jean Toth said donations collected from the food drive will help the Food Bank prepare for the upcoming holiday season.
“Many families in our community who are struggling turn to us for help during the holidays,” said Toth. “Please participate in this year’s drive to help ensure our neighbors have a warm meal during the holidays.”
The most needed Food Bank items are soups, meals, and proteins in a can, as well as plastic jars of peanut butter. Any non-perishable food items are gladly accepted. If someone would like to help but can’t donate food, they can make a monetary donation online at foodbanknela.org/donate.
