McLeod, Anna-Kathrine, and Leah Thomson win Friday night preliminary awards at Miss Louisiana

MONROE, LA - June 13, 2024 — The excitement was palpable at the Jack Howard Theatre Friday night as contestants showcased their talents and dedication during the second night of preliminaries. The evening concluded with standout performances and notable achievements, setting the stage for the final night where the 2024 Miss Louisiana will be crowned.

Miss University of Louisiana Monroe Gabrelle McLeod, emerged as a double winner, clinching both the Newcomer and Overall Preliminary Awards in the Health and Fitness category.

In the talent segment, Miss Belle of the D'Arbone Anna-Kathrine Thomson, captivated everyone with her exceptional performance, earning the Overall Preliminary Award for Talent. Meanwhile, the Newcomer Award for Preliminary Talent went to Miss Ouachita Parish Leah Thomson, showcasing the depth of talent among this year's contestants.

The Miss Louisiana Organization also took time to recognize the invaluable contributions of dedicated volunteers.

Among those honored were, Jamie Hillburn and Dr. Ashley Owens (10 years ), Kaye Austin and Jordan Roark (20 years), and Mr. Jessie Fullmer (50 years).
Combined these volunteers have 120 years of service, and have been instrumental instrumental in making the Miss Louisiana Organization all that it can be.

Scholarships were also awarded to deserving contestants, highlighting the Miss Louisiana Organization's commitment to empowering young women through education and opportunity.

For Women in Business the award was received by Miss Dixie Stockshow Kathrine McCullars, in education, Miss Louisiana Watermelon Festival Olivia Grace George, in health sciences Miss New Orleans Megan Magri, and in mass communications Miss Belle of the D'Arbone Anna-Kathrine Thomson.

The culmination of this year's pageant will take place on Saturday, June 14th, at the Jack Howard Theatre in Monroe where the 2024 Miss Louisiana will be crowned, marking the beginning of a new chapter for one exceptional woman.
