BATON ROUGE, La. - Secretary of State Nancy Landry announced that the Louisiana Notary Public Examination will transition to a computer-based format in the spring of 2025. Once implemented, the computer-based test will be offered exclusively at Louisiana State University’s Baton Rouge campus multiple times each month. The new format will allow the test to be offered more frequently and provide more time per question than the paper format currently allows.

“We are very excited by this development. The new format will provide more opportunities to pass the examination, significantly shorten the wait-time for re-taking it, and allow for scores to be released faster. It is our hope that eventually we can make the examination available at other testing sites around the state,” Secretary Landry said.

Registration is now open for the final paper-based exam, which will be administered on Jan. 11, 2025. After the January examination, all 2025 notary exams will use the 2025 edition of the study guide, which will be available for purchase in January on the Secretary of State’s website.
