A Louisiana prosecutor says a woman who shot a wildlife agent will still serve 80 years in prison despite a sentence correction by the state Second Circuit Court of Appeal.
33-year-old Amethyst Baird Rathore's 60 years of concurrent sentences on four charges in the shooting were to be served without the benefit of probation or parole.
However, a Wednesday ruling by the court corrected a technical error and she'll be eligible for parole on the three charges with lesser sentences. District Attorney Steve Tew says Rathore must serve the time for the longest sentence without the benefit of parole: 60 years for attempted first-degree murder.
Tew says her 20-year sentence on other cases will run consecutively. Rathore shot 25-year-old agent Tyler Wheeler during a traffic stop in Morehouse Parish in 2017.
