Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts presents Disney's Aladdin Jr.

Aladdin Jr. is based on the classic 1992 Academy Award-winning film Aladdin and the 2014 hit Broadway show. The show is about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth is deep within himself. However, some characters from the original show are missing. Victoria Steffins, the director, says, "We do not have Abu or Rajah." These characters have been replaced with three friends of Aladdin and attendants for Jasmine.

The production will be shown in the first two weekends in March; Friday, March 4th at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 5th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday, March 6th at 3 p.m. and the following weekend Friday, March 11th at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 12th, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 13th at 3 p.m.

The new adaptation of the show includes live music that features new songs.

A huge team of people for this production includes director Victoria Steffins, musical director Lynette Murphy, lighting and set design by Scot Baronet, and a cast that is made up of students between the ages of 8 and 18. Parents have also volunteered time to help collaborate with the team. They have helped prepare and create costumes and props.

Tickets are available for purchase at www.syaaonline.com. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children.
