The Northeast Louisiana Master Gardener presents its 14th annual Spring Plant Sale. The sale will be held at the West Monroe Convention Center on Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event is the main fundraiser for the Northeast Louisiana Master Gardeners Program. Kerry Heafner, NE Region Horticulture and Master Gardeners Coordinator, said, "Proceeds from the sale are used to fund projects we do around the community."
During the event, guest speaker, P. Allen Smith has two presentations. "12 Principles of Design" begins at 10 a.m. and "10 Plants I Cannot Live Without" begins at 2 p.m. A fee of $5 is required to attend the presentations.
Master Gardeners will be available to assist buyers in purchasing plants that will work best for their yard.
Featured at this event are Louisiana Super Plants. Categories include vegetables and herbs, houseplants, tropical plants, flowering vines, wildflowers, flowering trees, annuals, perennials, and ornamental shrubs.
The Louisiana Master Gardeners Program
is a volunteer organization. The program helps to educate the public on issues associated with lawn and gardening. "We also maintain some beds throughout the community. The beds, for example, the beds at The Chenault Aviation and Military Museum."
