The City of Monroe is the winner of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation's Cleanest City Contest in the district's category.
The categories are based on population size; The City of Monroe falls in Category I.
The judges from the LGCF were in town last week and were able to tour the city to make their assessments.
"We are honored to have met and exceeded the requirements to earn this designation. I want to commend the hard work of the men and women of the Public Works and Community Affairs departments. They show up every day ready to help ensure our city is clean and beautiful. We are looking forward to the state competition," says Monroe mayor, Friday Ellis.
The City of Monroe now moves on to the state competition which takes place the second week of May.
