WASHINGTON, DC – Alliance for Automotive Innovation released its exclusive state-by-state analysis of the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) market for Q3 2024. The Get Connected Electric Vehicle Report summarizes EV sales, purchasing trends and charging infrastructure across the country.
EV sales:
Nationally: EVs represented 10.6 percent of new light-duty vehicle sales in Q3 2024 – up from 9.96 percent in Q2 2024 and 10.13 percent in Q3 2023.
- 125 EV cars, utility vehicles, pickup trucks and van models now available for sale in the U.S. in Q3 2024.
Louisiana: EVs represented 2.15 percent of new light-duty vehicle sales in Q3 2024 – up from 1.89 percent in Q2 2024 and up from 1.89 percent in Q3 2023.
- 1,045 EVs sold in Louisiana in Q3 2024.
- Louisiana ranks No. 49 in EV market share.
Public EV charging:
Nationally: In Q3 2024, there were 5.4 million EVs on the road and a total of 185,124 publicly available charging outlets – a ratio of 29 EVs for every public port.
- This includes 46,484 DC Fast chargers (which charge battery electric vehicles in 20 minutes to one hour) – 3,093 were added in Q3 2024.
Louisiana: In Q3 2024, there were 13,640 EVs on the road and 756 publicly available charging outlets – a ratio of 18 EVs for every public port.
- Includes 280 DC Fast chargers – 15 were added in Q3 2024.
- Louisiana ranks No. 17 in the ratio of EVs to public chargers.
