The University of Louisiana at Monroe Alumni Association hosted the 6th Annual Women's Symposium Tuesday, March 14 at Bayou Pointe Event Center.
The Women’s Symposium will be held in a panel format with in-depth discussions on issues that women encounter each day. The 2023 Keynote Speaker is Dr. Nicole Cross, co-anchor of KTBS 3 News in Shreveport, LA.
Discussion topics included networking, inclusion, leadership skills, professionalism, and financial growth. Panelists included Community Facilitator Christina Gray, University of Louisiana System Assistant Vice President of Academic Innovation and Learning Dr. Katie Dawson, Executive Director of West Monroe/West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce Kris Kelly, and others. Students attending experienced breakout student sessions and roundtable talks on self-discovery in college and how to identify male allies.
The mission of the Women’s Symposium is to empower, motivate, empower, and encourage girls and women from all backgrounds, educational and professional levels to pursue their passions and seek leadership role in their desired career paths. It also seeks to embrace the support of both men and women for the betterment of all.
Women’s Symposium chair Dr. Allison Franzen Camacho explained, “ The symposium will give students the tools necessary for transitioning in life and leave them feeling empowered.”
