The Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup announces the six finalists for the 2023 competition.
Finalists include E-Com Expert from the University of Louisiana Monroe, advisor Jun Yu,; Explore Mate from ULM, advisor Joyce Zhu; Rise & Rotate from Northwestern State University, advisor Elizabeth Prejean; GLOBOWL from ULM, advisor Veronika Humphries; Immerse AR from ULM, advisor Blake Farman; and Homebound from Louisiana Tech and ULM, advisor Elizabeth Ragland.
Cathi Hemed, director of External Initiatives at the University of Louisiana Monroe College of Business and Social Sciences, explains "The goal of the competition is to inspire the contestants to have and entrepreneur mindset, be a better student, and have them become better employees for their future companies."
Open to all majors with one of the largest cash prizes in the nation, The Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup is an opportunity for students to develop critical thinking, team building, presentation, and other soft skills which are all important to career growth.
The competition requires a written formal business plan judged by business owners and investors. Six finalists will be chosen to conduct an in person oral presentation to top tier entrepreneurs.
This year’s cash prizes include $25,000, for first place, $15,000 for second place, $10,000 for third place, and $2,000 for the elevator pitch winners. Faculty advisors for first, second, and third place winners each receive $3,000.
