Dixie Center for the Arts hosts Russ-Town Band July 29

The Dixie Center for the Arts in Ruston will host the Russ-Town Band on July 29 at 7 p.m. The event is free to attend but donations will be accepted for building upkeep.

Dixie Communications Director Tom Faber says the theater was built in 1928 to serve Ruston. "Over the last few years about $250,000 has been put into keeping the building running and upgraded".

The Russ-Town Band will be directed by longtime music teacher Lawrence Gibbs. Gibbs says the band members will play pieces from the years 1938-2006. The band is made up from adults that may not have opportunities to perform once leaving college.

The Dixie Center will also be hosting Cochren & Co on August 12 and Stephanie Trick & Paolo Alderighi on August 12.
