SYAA to host summer camps for children ages 5-18

Offering a variety of shows and interests, Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts will be hosting summer camps for children aged 6-18, beginning June 3 and ending July 21.

Kicking off the summer is "High School Zombical," a workshop open to children aged 5-12, appealing to those who love "Wars in the Stars" and "The Sandolorian." Additionally, for ages 5-12, there's "Princess vs. Pirates," a workshop produced by Cathy Airhart Webb herself.

Older students, ages 13-18, can experience what a full production might feel like with Newsies. Rehearsals begin May 28 and end June 27, with performances running from June 28-30. Children aged 12-13 will have the opportunity to participate in Disney's "101 Dalmatians Kids," with rehearsals from July 8-19 and performances on July 20 and 21.

For those who are not fans of the spotlight, SYAA has another workshop. Students can learn about lights, sound, and technical theater with David Kaul. This technical theater workshop will be open to students aged 12-18 and will take place from June 10-14, from 2 to 4 p.m.

And last but not least, students can "find your voice" by learning the basics of vocal technique with Dr. Claire Vangelisti and Justin Harvard of the Voice Area at the University of Louisiana Monroe.
