Based on the 1992 film staring Christian Bell Newsies tells the story of the 1899 newsboys strike an event that took place during the seeds of the labor movement before child labor laws were passed.

A four week summer intensive rehearsals take place 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. The week before performances rehearsals are held 4 hours a day. Director Meagan Wilkins says students are working hard outside of rehearsals stating, " I get calls and text messages after rehearsals or the next day during the day asking questions on how to improve or what a specific note meant or something like that, so I know they are rehearsing outside of the theatre."
