NELA Music Awards celebrate local music scene and B.B. King

The 2024 Northeast Louisiana Music Awards will be held Thursday, August 15 at 7 p.m at the Monroe Civic Center.

The awards were established in 2015 to celebrate, showcase, and recognize the outstanding talent of northeast Louisiana.

The event is a People's Choice Awards Show, where the talent is nominated and voted on by the public. Nominees will also be inducted into the NELA Music Hall of Fame on display at the Northeast Louisiana Delta African American Heritage Museum.

The purpose of the Northeast Louisiana Music Awards is to recognize and celebrate the diverse musical talent in the region. It aims to provide a platform for musicians, songwriters, and other music industry professionals to showcase their work and be acknowledged for their contributions to the local music scene.

Performers for the 2024 NELA Music Awards include The Mike McKenzie Band, Regina Rogers, Sanctuary Quartet, Jordan Sheppard and the Cypress Knees, Big Po, Katie Knight, Zach Smith, Message from Mercury, Main Event, Red Flags, and Mark Taylor and the TaylorMade Band.

Prior to the event an art reception will take place at 6 p.m. at the Northeast Louisiana Delta African-American Heritage Museum.

The Awards, the museum, and the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center have partnered to present a B.B. King Exhibit at the event, including King's iconic guitar "Lucille." The partners have also agreed to team up for the B.B. King centennial celebration in 2025.

General Admission is $25 and reserved tables are $500. More information about the event and table sponsorships are available at nelamusicawards.com.
