Living Well Foundation supports North Louisiana health and wellbeing with major grants in 2024

Following the transition of Glenwood Regional Hospital in 2006, the Living Well Foundation emerged as a public charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of North Louisiana residents.

The foundation provides essential services to citizens across eight parishes, including access to healthcare, job search assistance, and various other community projects throughout the year.

In 2024, the Living Well Foundation reached a milestone with its largest grant cycle to date, totaling nearly $1 million in donations. These funds will expand services for healthcare professionals and help support the housing of an emergency response vehicle.

Thanks to a partnership with the American Red Cross, Northeast Louisiana will now have its own emergency response vehicle, which will be stationed at the Ouachita Parish Fire Department. This vehicle will be available for natural disaster response and special deployments in the region.

Other key initiatives funded by the Living Well Foundation include a $100,000 donation to the NELA Children's Museum, which will support the creation of a healthcare gallery. This exhibit will encourage children to explore and learn about healthcare at the museum’s new location at Forsythe Park, slated to open in 2025.

In collaboration with the Children’s Coalition of Northeast Louisiana (NELA), the foundation is also working to address mental health challenges in the region. With 30% of female teens and a 15% increase in Black males aged 10-24 reporting thoughts of suicide or self-harm, the foundation is funding suicide prevention and intervention training. Additionally, school-based health centers, supported by the foundation, will provide mental health services and dental care to students throughout the region.
