City of Monroe kicks off the holiday season with a series of 'Holiday Happenings'

The City of Monroe is preparing to kick off the season with a series of family-friendly festivities.

Monday, November 25, the city will host a downtown pep rally to support the Warhawks as they gear up to face the University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns in the final regular-season home game. The rally will begin at 5 p.m. at the River Market.

The CKPC Holiday Express will be downtown on December 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. The event will feature holiday decorations, festive activities, and local vendors. Admission is free. On December 6, the City of Monroe will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. The celebration will include appearances by Santa, as well as Mr. and Miss ULM.

December 7th, voters will head to the polls to decide on a measure regarding the capital infrastructure tax. The bill proposes the collection of 1% of the sales tax for a period of 25 years, beginning on January 1, 2026, to fund both planned and unplanned city infrastructure projects.

Later that day, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ouachita will host its annual Christmas Parade, which will begin in West Monroe and conclude in Monroe with a visit from Santa.
